A Tale of Two Tools

The tools shown on the left are known in electrical/electronics industry jargon as “Dikes,” or more formally, Diagonal Cutting Tools.

The blue-handled Dikes on the left are more than 50 years old and were manufactured in the USA.  During their lifetime, they have cut many wires, including some used in electronic assemblies and cabling for satellites and space junk that is littering the moon.

The yellow-handled Dikes on the right are less than one year old and were manufactured in China.

Well guess what?  Those 50-year old Dikes cut better than the newer ones.
