75 Years Ago Today

Today marks the 75th anniversary of D-Day, the beginning of what General Eisehower called the “Great Crusade.”  This was a time when all Americans – left, right, center or otherwise pulled together to achieve a common goal.  Today, we find ourselves divided and not willing to work together to leave a better world for our children and their children.  Some of us are fond of embracing slogans such as “Make America Great Again” while others contend that we never were that great, or that we’re already great.  The truth no doubt lies somewhere in the middle.  Maybe we should instead all work together to “Make America Better Than Ever.”

Tuesday, 6 June 1944

It surprises me no end that many people I know do not have a clue about what happened on this day 72 years ago today.  I wonder if Tuesday, 11 September 2001 will get the same treatment on its 72nd anniversary?
