About

A few factoids about HR’s halfVAST Blog…

How long has the halfVAST.com domain been around?

It has been on the Internet since 1999 in one form or another. It started out as a static one-page site and has evolved over time to what you see here today.

What’s the significance of the name halfVAST?

Not too big, not too small.  And the obvious similarity to a well-known slang word.

What’s with the outhouse in the logo?

Seemed like a good idea at the time.

The site has a plain vanilla look to it. What’s up with that?

It’s a Blog, not an Eye Candy generator.  Kidding aside, I guess it reflects my “simple is better” approach to things.  And my attempt at a “responsive design.”  Underneath this mild-mannered site, HTML5 and its faithful companion CSS3 are maintaining law and order.

Why do you have a blog?

Certainly not for profit…It’s a hobby.  When I’m not doing something more interesting like watching TV or giving pedicures to the dogs, I fool around with stuff like this.

Do you have any other web sites?

Yes I do. You can view them via the links under HR’s Sites.

Where is halfVAST.com physically located?

The server is buried deep in a humongous data center somewhere in northern Virginia. All the updates and maintenance for halfVAST.com and my other web sites are done over the Internet from Leesburg, Virginia, which is about 40 miles northwest of Washington, DC.

What can I expect to see here in the future?

Don’t know…guess it will be whatever I’m interested in at the moment.
