Groundhog Day – 2017

Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow today, so we can look forward to six more weeks of winter.

Potomac Phil, his “stuffy” counterpart here in the DC Metropolitan Area, concurred and had this to say: “Sorry folks six more weeks of winter and six more months of political gridlock!!!”  Based on the current political environment, six weeks of gridlock may be a very conservative estimate!

Potomac Phil, his “stuffy” counterpart here in the DC Metropolitan Area, also predicted six more weeks of winter, which is quite a feat since he’s been gone from this mortal coil for a number of years now. Potomac Phil, who fancies himself as an “inside-the beltway” know-it-all, also had this not so surprising comment.

Groundhog Day 2013

Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow today, so we can anticipate an early spring this year rather than six more weeks of winter.  Or can we?

His competitor here in the DC Metropolitan Area.  Potomac Phil predicted six more weeks of winter.

My money’s on good old Punxsutawney Phil.  He’s a lot less “Stuffy” than the competition.

Groundhog Day 2012

Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow today, so we get to enjoy six more weeks of winter weather.  Based on the exceedingly mild winter weather we’ve been experiencing here to date, six more weeks of days like today (sunny, 60° F, 15.5° C) is fine with me.

Groundhog Day 2010

Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow this year so it looks like Winter will be around for at least six more weeks. Speaking of Winter, there is more snow expected here today. Predictions are for a dusting of no more than an inch or so. Prediction was the same this past Saturday. When all was said and done there were about six inches of snow on the ground.
