As you can see, I’ve once again changed the look of HR’s halfVAST Blog. And, at first glance, you will probably say “It’s even uglier than the previous layout.” Well think about it for a minute. Using design tools available today, even novices can produce web sites that have colorful graphics and fancy layouts. But not everyone can produce web sites that conform to standards and have a consistent loook and feel across different browsers, physical screen sizes and screen resolutions. Although this site’s outward appearance is quite ordinary, the underlying design is not.
And, if nothing else, hopefully this less than stunning layout encourages viewers to focus on the content rather than the “eye candy.”
I completely agree and I *LOVE* it! Plus, I think it’s elegant and tasteful, not at all ugly. I am not even certain what you mean by that. I have been coming here, watching you work on this new design this week, waiting for you to post on it. I want something simple, too, but I keep winding up with “more and more obnoxious.”
I just got to thinking…our designs match our personalities! lol…Well, I think that is the way it is supposed to be. No sense in pretending! Good work, HarryB, as usual! 🙂
October 12th, Harry! 🙂 🙂 🙂 The boys have worked hard, haven’t they?
Thanks for the compliment… 🙂
Ugly in the sense that it is not very colorful and graphics intensive. It looks like a “Throw-Back” to the early days of the web. But the looks are deceiving as the underlying technology is vastly different from that which existed back then.
And yes, the boys have done good…I’ve been downloading the 1.5 SVN stuff on a weekly basis for a while now and checking it out via my local WAMP5 setup.
