Shell – Part VII

The house next door - siding 1 The house next door - siding 2 The shell of the house next door is just about complete now.

Looks like all that remains to be done is to finish the trim, install the garage doors, outside electrical work and other finishing touches.

All of the interior framing is done, electrical and plumbing rough-in is complete, the insulation has been installed and they finshed hanging the wall board yesterday.

The picture of the interior was taken last week, prior to hanging the wall board.

GMUMy alma mater’s basketball team made it to the NCAA Tournament Final Four this year. Although they have been to the tournament a couple of times before, they have always lost in the first round, i.e., one game and out. So this has been a big deal for the school and the surrounding community. They are having a parade through the city and the campus tomorrow, followed by a post-tournament pep rally. They finished the season ranked Eighth in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll. This is the fist time ever they have been ranked in the top 25.The downside to all of this is that the coach, who has been here for nine years, has now attracted the attention of some of the more well-known schools. He has already been approached by one fairly well-known school and there are rumors that others are also interested in talking to him about becoming their basketball coach.

Shell, Part VI

The house next door - siding 1 The house next door - siding 2 Here are two pictures of the house next door during application of the vinyl siding.

Note that there is no barrier wrap (e.g., Dupont Tyvek®, etc.) on the house.  For some reason, the house was not wrapped prior to the siding going up, so it is being applied as the siding is put up.

The siding on the other side of the house was put up with no barrier wrap under it…and had to be torn down and put up again after applying the wrap.

It took about two days to put all the siding up.
