9/11

I saw the Pentagon burning on 9/11…

11 September 2001 was a day I wll certainly never forget. My office building is about 10 miles West of the Pentagon and one could see the smoke and fire from there. Its still hard to comprehend that the World Trade Center Towers are gone and that there were over 6000 people killed in the space of a couple of hours. Lets all hope that this was a wakeup call to all Americans, and to the peope of all nations around the globe.

On The Road

To Ottawa and Durham…

Well, its been about six months since I made and entry, so I guess its time. I’ve been traveling a lot, mostly to Ottawa, Canada and Durham, NC. Bet you didn’t know that an airplane ride from Washington-Dulles International Airport is about the same length of time to either place.

Finally

The ISDN line is gone…

The ISDN is history…the link light went red on Friday, so I guess the “five working days” have passed. The ADSL is still working fine, but the HomeNet broke yesterday — one of my $19.95 special network interface cards died! After procuring a new card (had to spring for $29.95 this time!), the HomeNet is alive and well again.

Where Have They Gone

All the dotcoms…

Happy New Millennium to all! And yet one more time I’ve changed web hosting providers. GXHosting.com is going out of business on 31 January 2001. I’m now using DellHost and DreamHost for hrpr.com and halfvast.com, respectively. Along with GXHosting, lots of other dotcoms that were out there in 2000 have disappeared.

Too Hot

For football…

Its September now but unfortunately, the August weather here in the DC area has arrived, albeit a bit late! August was relatively cool and rainy as opposed to the norm of high 80s to mid 90s and unbearable humidity. The Washington Redskins open the season tomorrow against the Carolina Panthers and of course, rain and high humidity are predicted. And, the price of both seats and beer at Fedex Field went up this year to help pay for all the high priced help the Redskins picked up through free agency during the off-season!
