I’m Confused

Which one is Fake News?

  • “Try building your cars in the United States instead of shipping them over,” Trump said at an event with Japanese business executives, according to a pool report.
  • Japan’s Big 3 (Honda, Toyota, Nissan) automakers built more cars in U.S. than Detroit Big 3 (Ford, GM, Fiat Chrysler) last year. (bizjournals.com)

Hint: Make sure you read the entire article the “more than” claim comes from before you make your decision.

The State of State

During an interview on Fox News, Laura Ingraham asked POTUS45 whether ongoing vacancies in the State Department were making it more difficult for him to carry out his foreign policy plans.  His answer was:

“I am a business person. When you don’t need to fill slots, don’t fill them,” Trump told Ingraham. “The one that matters is me. I am the only one that matters. When it comes to it, that’s what the policy will be.” 1

Is POTUS45 saying he doesn’t really need any assistance and/or guidance from the State Department, and, by implication, Congress when formulating US foreign policy?  I had doubts that this is the message POTUS45 meant to convey.  But not to worry.  Using my trusted Secret Decoder Ring I got the real message.

The Prez Says – 28 May 2017

He’s Back!!!

POTUS45 has returned from his first foreign trip.  Now that he is back, he has once again resumed his quest to “…insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty….” [1] using Twitter to bring his words of wisdom to the masses.

  • 2 minutes ago: Does anyone notice how the Montana Congressional race was such a big deal to Dems & Fake News until the Republican won? V was poorly covered
  • 7 minutes ago: Whenever you see the words ‘sources say’ in the fake news media, and they don’t mention names….
  • 6 minutes ago: ….it is very possible that those sources don’t exsist but are made up by fake news writers. #FakeNews is the enemy!
  • 7 minutes ago: It is my opinion that many of the leaks coming out of the White House are fabricated lies made up by the #FakeNews media.

The First 100 Days

Shortly after Donald J. Trump’s inauguration as the 45th POTUS on 20 January 2017, the whitehouse.gov web site was updated to include his administration’s top issues:

  • America First Energy Plan
  • America First Foreign Policy
  • Bringing Back Jobs And Growth
  • Making Our Military Strong Again
  • Standing Up For Our Law Enforcement Community
  • Trade Deals Working For All Americans.

Today marks the end of the first 100 days of his administration.  And he plans on celebrating by holding a “Campaign Rally” in Harrisburg, PA.  Someone really should tell him that this might not be the best use of his time.

Orange is the New Red

“We are going to put American-produced steel back into the backbone of our country. This alone will create massive numbers of jobs.” Donald J. Trump in Monessen, PA, June 2016[1]

Today at approximately 12:00 noon, Donald J. Trump will become the 45th POTUS.  His mode of operation is quite different than those who have served as POTUS since I arrived on the scene.  However, he does share one thing in common with them.  Like others who preceded him, he has made a number of campaign promises, some of which I personally think are “Mission Impossible.”

One of the major reasons he won the election was his appeal to the those in the Rust Belt who have been seen their way of life and standard of living decline as a result of globalization and automation.  Many of these folks are depending on his promise to bring back manufacturing jobs and open up the coal mines.

Pittsburgh Steel, Monessen, PAI grew up in a Rust Belt town back in the days when the local steel mill was a 24×7 operation and the river was dotted with boats hauling barges loaded with coal.  The steel mill is long gone and so are the coal mines that filled the barges.  And the once booming downtown is filled with dilapidated, boarded-up buildings rather than shops and businesses.

Good Luck President Trump.  I hope your promise to “Make America Great Again” includes Monessen, PA and all the other down and out towns in the Mid-Mon Valley.
