Jamboree in the Hills, 2009

Spent last Thursday through Sunday at the Jamboree in the Hills in Morristown, Ohio.  The crowd was smaller than usual this year.  Might be due to the the gradual decline in the number of big name acts over the years, coupled with the increases in ticket prices and the current state of the economy.

Once again a good time was had by all, except for an hour or so when the venue got hit by one of those nasty Ohio Valley rain storms.  And it was unseasonably cold and cloudy.

One sad note was that our friend Pat, who was the one in our group who has attended the most Jamborees over the years couldn’t make it this year due to illness.  We really missed him and are looking forward to his return next year.

Over three months now on my "bionic" left hip.  I finished physical therapy first week in June and had appointment with surgeon today for checkup.  As of now all systems are go.  If all continues to go well next checkup will be in March 2010 (one year after surgery).

Today is a milestone in my recovery from my left hip replacement surgery.  No more twice a week sessions with the physical therapist.  However, I will still need to continue with my daily exercises here at home for the foreseeable future.

Next up is my post-operative visit with the surgeon in a few weeks.

It has been almost two months  since my left hip replacement surgery.

I just completed my initial round of physical therapy sessions.  My major "accomplishments" to date include:

  • I can walk without a limp and do not need a cane
  • I can tie the shoelaces on my left shoe
  • The swelling is gone in my left leg and foot; I can wear all my shoes again
  • I’m back on my treadmill doing 30 minutes or more a day
  • I can sleep on my left side, right side or back with no discomfort.

Stay tuned for more updates.  Next big event is my post-operative visit  with the surgeon the last week in June.
