The Shorty

Miss Piggy (aka Piggy), our Jack Russell Shorty went to live in Doggie Heaven on 23 April 2019.

Piggy moved in with us and her late stepbrother Gunston in November 2004.  She was a typical Jack Russell – full of energy and ready to chase her beloved tennis balls as long as one was willing to throw them.  she was not a hunter like Gunston.  But she was always willing to join in to help chase those pesky squirrels.

She will be sorely missed by all.

RIP Piggy, 20 March 2002 – 23 April 2019

The Wonder Dog

Gunny the Wonder Dog
Our dog Gunston passed away at 0920 EDT today.  He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.  My brother noted Gunny’s passing with this quote:

There’s no doubt he’s in Doggy Heaven running the fence line; barking at passing motorcycles.

One detail he forgot to mention was that Gunny did not waste his time chasing after any old motorcycle.  He was a Harley aficionado!

Gunny was known by everyone, including his Veterinarian, as the “Wonder Dog.”  Early in life he contracted a canine autoimmune disease known as Pemphigus.  He almost died from the disease, but made a miraculous recovery once he was put on a steroid regimen.  Even with the steroids he was not expected to have a normal lifespan, but he fooled everybody and lived a great doggy life for 13 years.

Farewell Gunny, we will miss you more than you can ever imagine….

RIP Gunston, 01 February 2001 – 12 May 2014.

Still the Ace

Gunny the Ace

Last year around this same time I did a post about
The Ace
.  Well, I’m happy to report that he has not lost his touch.  So far this year the tally is two (2) squirrels, three (3) chipmunks and about four (4) field mice.

The Ace

Ace is a title given to a fighter pilot with at least five air-to-air combat kills. Although Gunston the Jack Russell Terrier doesn’t know how to fly, he qualifies as a “Doggy Ace,” since he has eight confirmed kills of various small rodents so far this year.

Gunston

He’s a dog…

Got a dog. He’s a Jack Russell Terrier about three year old. He was homeless and living at the Northern Virginia SPCA. His name is Gunston, or Gunny for short.
