Be Careful Out There

If you live in Virginia and happen to get a traffic ticket for reckless driving or one of a number of other moving violations, be prepared to part with lots of cash starting 1 July 2007. There’s a new law that takes effect then that imposes a “civil remedial fee” in addition to the initial fine. For example, if you get ticketed for reckless driving, the typical fine is about $200.00. After July 1st, you will have to pay an additional $1,050.00 “civil remedial fee.”
